The mail api is more flexible, and easier to work with, I believe the archives have examples and code in order to use the api. Both are capable of attaching a file ( I have only used them for IFS files, I am not sure about native AS/400 files, as all my e-mails have required text files or csv files) For snddst, use the parms DOC and FLR (of course you had to put a file there via cpytopcd first.) I use this all the time and even have code creating PDF files there for sending reports out. HTH Mark A.
