like "youse guys" or "y'all" or similar is a failing of the
"English"
language.
It may well be a failing of the American language, but that went off

plural. My freshman year RA quite succinctly explained that
"y'all"
corrects one of the most severe failings of the English
language (at

in the minds of Southerners), the fact that "you" is both
singular

plural.
