Cyndi, All of the mail should be relayed to the SMTP server you specify, whether it's on your domain or not. I'm not familiar with Exchange, does it have any sort of console where you can look in on it and see what is happening? We use Domino, and we watch the console to see if our JavaMail program is communicating with the SMTP server. Also, have you looked into what Aaron Bartell has done with the RPG interface to JavaMail? He's taken this to a whole new level. Check out http://mowyourlawn.com Mike E. I was using SMTP with a relay to our Exchange server, and when it worked, it worked well. But sometimes it didn't work, and we never knew when that was. I found a Java email utility written by James Zhang. It works very well for mail that stays in-house, but it will not send mail outside my company. I have modified the java.mail.properties file to say email.hosttype=mail.smtp.host email.hostname=mailserver.ihfa.org I have changed the host name to the IP address of our mail server, it's unqualified name and the qualified name as shown above. In all cases, mail is sent to xxxxx@xxxxxxxx addresses but not to any outside addresses. The exchange server is set to alow mail relaying only from our AS/400 ip address, and it works because the in-house mail does relay. Our exchange guru swears that the mail to an outside address never even shows up on the mail server. Is there some setting that I need to change on my AS/400 ? Ideas and RTM's accepted. Cyndi B.
