I'm at V4R1. After running MKDIR, in WRKLNK I can see all of the shares that do not end in "$". Shares that do end in "$" are hidden shares, and should not be visible. When there have been problems with user profile or password validation, the MKDIR command has failed.

If you have hidden shares, the only way I know of to test connectivity is to start QSH and do a cd /QNTC/servername/sharename, followed by ls (similar to dir in msdos). Be aware though, that commands in QSH (especially ls) are veeerrrrrryyyy sssllooooowwww. Just wait patiently until the "$" prompt reappears.
