We recently installed an 802.11b network for some LXE MX3 RF terminals.
This network is replacing a 900 mHz system. We have several DOS based MX3's
that had 900 mHz cards in them and they were replaced with Symbol 802.11b
cards.

Two problems:

1. If the terminal is powered down at a sign on screen, the unit goes to a
C:\ prompt when powered back up. The config status on the iSeries remains
SIGNON DISPLAY. I have to vary the device off manually and then have the
user power cycle the terminal to in order for a sign on screen to display.

2. If the terminal is taken out of the range of an access point, the
terminal locks up and stays locked up even when brought back within range of
a signal. The user job must then be ended.

We have Symbol terminals on a 802.11 network that do not have these
problems. Is there something I need to change on the configuration of the
DOS based MX3's?

Solutions would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks in advance.
