System model number 270 2838 Operational Ethernet Port 2744 Operational Token-Ring Port Release of base option . . . . . . . : V5R2M0 L00 TL03077 Temporarily applied I too wonder why the system performed so poorly with concurrent use of the Ethernet and Token Ring adapters. If it helps to identify the problem, the TR IP address was 10.10.10.1, subnet 255.2555.255.0 and the Ethernet continues to be 10.10.11.1, subnet 255.255.255.0 Whatever the reason, I have not enabled the Token Ring TCP/IP configuration again and reconfigured routes to continue processing from the 10.10.10.x Token Ring devices. I have been trying to eliminate the Token Ring environment here for years. Because of this latest throughput issue, management is starting to agree. :) I guess we should have stayed on twinax until the AS/400 supported Ethernet. Yes, the FTP problem on our iSeries seems to be resolved. As Marty had mentioned, he too had throughput problems on an iSeries that contained both an Ethernet and Token Ring adapter. His post caused me to disable the Token Ring on our system and run exclusively on the Ethernet adapter. Once done the FTP throughput was more reasonable. Not as fast as other platforms deliver data but fast enough to make the process acceptable. Unfortunately, this original post of mine did, in fact, result in an isolated and unique situation. Thus not really able to help the general iSeries community. IMHO, it did however stir up emotions showing some of the same narrow minded opinions of the midrange community.
