Rob, Joe is talking about the just announced WDSC 5.1. The article you are referring to in our newsletter described how to obtain WDSC 5.0. The article is at this URL for those that are interested. http://www.softlanding.com/tlz/index.htm Hopefully, IBM will provide some more details in the coming days about how WDSC 5.1 will be made available. Also, while WDSC 5.1 will not be available until September 27, WSAD and WSSD 5.1 will be available on this Friday (August 8). So that does beg the question as to whether those of us that are doing a lot of plain Java/Web development can upgrade the WSAD/WSSD portion prior to September 27. IBM'ers? Okay, IBM just announced V5.1 of WDSC. Very cool. However, I can't even begin to figure out how to get the upgrade. When I go to the website, I get web pages and web pages about the "Passport Advantage" program, and I don't have a clue what that is or how it relates to the thousands of dollars I pay in software and hardware maintenance. For this list in particular, do you guys have a passport? How did you get it? Look at the following pages: http://www.ibm.com/isource/cgi-bin/goto?it=usa_annred&on=203-193 http://www.ibm.com/isource/cgi-bin/goto?it=usa_annred&on=203-195 It seems to me (although I could be completely confused) that I can get these packages for my V5R1 machine (which is up to date on software subscription) by ordering part number 5905. The interesting thing is that it looks like I can only order these things between October 17th and November 21st, after which they will be discontinued. (Meaning it's time for me to think about upgrading to V5R2.)
