The problem is no doubt IBM's wonderful ordering/billing system.  As he 
already ordered, and received, V5R2, IBM's records show he has V5R2 and 
they can no longer process a V5R1 software order for him.

Yow, I'd be making noise over this. I assume you have a license and 
software subscription, etc. If so, there should be _NO_ reason not to 
supply you with it unless it has been withdrawn.

First, verify with IBM that they won't sell it to you. Call the IBM Direct 
number, send a request for clarification through iSeries nation, get your 
business partner to clarify that he's stating a known fact rather than 
general opinion, etc. Make certain you know exactly where the snag is.

Second, if IBM won't supply you with it (and if you are entitled), tell 
us, tell anybody you can. Make more noise. I'd be mad as he11!

And if it's not IBM, then start making alternative noises including with 
IBM.

My best experiences lately with resolution have been through iSeries 
nation.
