I am setting up a small project to test the viability of connecting a client
on the AS/400 (written in RPG4) to an external HTTP server over an extranet.
I have plenty of experience in BSC, ASYNC, ICFF type comms, but can't get
the comms descriptions correct for the switched PPP link over which I will
use TCP/IP and sockets.

Could anyone help with some basic advice , sample descriptions, or a pointer
to tutorials etc to get a switched line PPP link up and going.
The comms line will be connected to a standard Async modem.
Once the link is established, I will exchange data using sockets over TCP/IP
(SSL3).

Also (assuming I get the comms up) how is the RPG program connected to the
specific comms device ?
In BSC and ICFF I use remote location names and program device files. Is
there an equivalent for sockets ?

Many thanks
