Thanks Doug.  So presumably, if the system disk IS inserted already (and 
it is), then eaither the diskette drive is fried or the diskette (which of 
course they don't have a backup of) is inreadable.  :-) 
One of those situations where it wouldn;t reconnect after a power failure. 
 5494 keeps going through the motions, but always ends up with Test light 
on.

Type 0 and press Enter to run extended diagnostics.
Type 1 and press Enter to begin normal operations
Type 2 and press Enter to start system configuration
