Seems like it's a popular idea.  The more I look, the more I find.  Here's
one under $1000: http://www.easysoft.com/products/2003/main.phtml.  Note
that it says any Java-enabled client.  This includes the iSeries.

And here's another, for $699.  What's interesting is this one actually
supports a single database connection for free!  If you're just using it to
occasionally gather data for a single iSeries job, that might be all you
need: http://www.j-netdirect.com/JDataFeatures.html.

My guess is the more you look the more you'll find.
