I just went and tried it. You can externally describe the data
structure
as: ExtName(DisplayFile:Format) There's no need to define the subfile
format in detail.

"Like" keyword doesn't work on datastructures. The rest of the
instructions
should work as shown.

Thank a lot for your answer but I am looking for an other way :

I don't want to describe in detail the DSPF in the program.

Define a data structure with all of the fields. (Would a Like(SFLA)

keyword work on a data strucrure?)

Define a standalone field Like(the datastructure).

Eval the standalone field = the datastructure.

Write the standalone field to array(Inx).

At the correct time in your program write the array to your file.

Subject: store a generic sub file into a PF

Hi every body,

I would like to store in a physical file any sub file used by a

software.

Typically after a press on a function key I would like to substitute any

write in the sub file by a write in a physical file. To have a generic

solution I need to write all of the output buffer in a flat record but I

don?t know the way to capture the output buffer.

Do you have a solution to my need ?
