Why is it OK for Joe to openly promote his product all the time (and with

First of all, Joe doesn't promote his product all the time ... and, unless it's in response to a question or discussion, it is *NOT* OK for Joe to promote his product. Joe happened to be one of two vendors participating in this thread. Had someone from IBM been participating to present the webfacing point of view, they would have been welcome to talk about it on the same terms that Joe did with PSC/400.

The point of the thread, as far as I could see, was a PERCEIVED misrepresentation of how a product work and what it did. Had Joe *NOT* been involved in the discussion, but someone representing webfacing was, I would have presented similar arguments. Joe's product and webfacing are more similar than the other product in question, IMHO.

All vendors are welcome to present their products when it is directly applicable to a discussion.
