--Tom, we use 7855-10 for remote comm.
        SDLC configuration.
        If your 7855 is 'toast', and you have another modem handy, see if it is 
cabable of sync. communication.
        If not, order another, the price on these 'should' have gone down 
drastically over the last few years.
        I always have 1 backup modem, just in case.
