Picking up job log messages is just lots easier in CL, like on the backups and many other things. If you're not using too many fields from the file in your CL, what about calling an RPG that does a simple SETLL for you, then a READ or READE through your file, returning the data at each read while leaving the file open? One of the recommendations in the RPG Redbook (a million thanks to those who wrote it!) was precisely to set up calls for access to data. - Alan
