In short, it does seem that MS wrote large parts of OS/2 at least up to Version
2 and retained various rights to some of the critical code; but I'm not clear
on how much of OS/2 became part of WinNT's core.

Even WinXP still misses a couple of the nicer features although it's _finally_
caught up to parts of how references to objects were handled in OS/2 -- you can
now move an object referenced by a shortcut and WinXP won't pop up the "Missing
shortcut: Windows is searching for..." message box when you double-click the
old shortcut. That's irritated me for years.

Now if they'd just provide a desktop object like OS/2's 'program object', I'd
almost be happy. (Or have they?) These could often be used similar to command
objects at a command line in OS/400 except they provided parameter prompting on
the desktop.

Sheesh... after so many years and _still_ looking for features.
