At his point, what we have surmised is: Devices on the port 1 string go into Recovery Pending status upon booting the controller. If we can quickly vary those devices off, then the diskette is not corrupted. Once the other port(s) come up, then we can vary on those devices and everything works, otherwise the diskette get hammered and is unusable. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THERE IS A REVISON OF THE 5394 SOFTWARE LATER THAN VERSION 2.3 ? COULD A LATER REVISION OF THE HARDWARE (BASED ON SERIAL NUMBER OF THE UNIT) REQUIRE A LATER VERSION OF THE SOFTWARE? I'm grabbing at straws I'm sure, but I've not seen this scenario in any other location, and we've been running these units flawlessly for almost 7 years now. The particular units we are working with at this location have a much higher serial number than the original 35 units purchased 7 years ago, but we're using the same 2.3 version of the siftware...... -----Original Message----- From: Eduard van den Braken [mailto:e.vd.braken@xxxxxxxxx] Sent: Tuesday, June 10, 2003 10:18 AM To: 'Midrange Systems Technical Discussion' Subject: RE: IBM 5394 Controllers corrupting diskettes Chuck 1. Any big accu-loader at the other side of the wall or nearby, this took me in the past. 2. Did you try to connect the 5393 to another wall-outlet on another currentbreaker.
