There is no issue with Macrosloth being the only "train on the track," as
you poetically put it.

The issue comes in when they use their (fully legal) monopolistic status to
kill and/or stave-off would-be competitors.

I don't see that a move such as the one proposed, would endanger their
position.  Unfortunately.

   MS wants to stay clear of Anti Trust laws, they can't be the only train
   on the track.
   They were burned on that issue recently.
