I use tn5250 and openssl.  However I don't authenticate the client, just
the server (though I will be authenticating both shortly).  AFAIK tn5250,
openssl, and the DCM provide everything needed to authenticate both the
server and clients without requiring any kind of certificate translation.
OpenSSL is available as an installable binary for a variety of platforms.
