This product in particular I have learned about from developers and end users who have used the product. HATS is sort of a screen scraper on steroids; it requires a special server piece that at first didn't even run on the iSeries, but instead required a separate PC server box. It also requires a special HATS development studio. But as to the interactive issue, here's a direct quote from IBM: "HATS requires interactive workload even on the new iSeries systems. So the hardware and software costs will be driven up for HATS."
