Chris, < I would really like to embed the SQL directly into the RPG and not have to copy the data at all. Given the above statement, this solution might not be what you prefer, but it's pretty easy. Just use DTS from SQL to copy the data to the AS/400. -----Original Message----- From: Chris Bipes [mailto:chris.bipes@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Friday, May 09, 2003 12:10 PM To: 'midrange-l' Subject: MS SQL => AS400 I am looking for a way to directly access data stored on a MS SQL server. When I try adding the Relation Data Base Directory Entry (ADDRDBDIRE) then try to connect using STRSQL and CONNECT TO DATABASENAME I always get a communication error, SQ30080 Communication error occurred during distributed database processing. The user ID and password does exist. What port should I use? Is there a special driver program for the AS400? Do I need special software on the SQL Server? I would really like to embed the SQL directly into the RPG and not have to copy the data at all. OS400 V5R1 => SQL 8.0 on Windows 2000 Server Christopher K.
