GDDM? Like that was ever an option.  Who could afford the terminals?  As I
recall, there was a PCS emulator that supported GDDM, but IT required a very
specific and expensive video card (XGA?? XVGA??)...

Perhaps because almost no one would use it. AS/400s had graphics capability
from the start, but it's effectively been removed recently -- never used
GDDM? I programmed a few functions in it a number of years back. AFAIK, it
was never significantly enhanced beyond its early capabilities under OS/400.
