We ALL use this list to glean information because that's what it's for.
Do you think there are people on this list solely for the reason of fluffing
up their CV? 
Personally I doubt it, but if there are, good luck to them, they won't last
long in any IT job if they have to rely on the knowledge of others all the
time. I don't think there are many people out there who would embellish
their CV's with knowledge they haven't got on the basis that this forum will
provide it when required; I could be wrong of course, but it strikes me as
unlikely. 

By your definition, I have to admit to being a lurker (although if you think
I should unsubscribe because of that then you should think again), I have
gleaned tons of useful information from this list, thanks to the many
experts here, but have contributed little. Although I have years of 3X/400
experience, I do not consider myself to be in the same league as many of the
experts (Al, et al) here, simply because I don't know the answers to many of
the questions posed. The ones I do have answers for, or have some knowledge
of, I generally hang back a few minutes, and lo and behold a few other
people give the answer, so there's no need for me to do so as well.
Apart from which, I believe that everybody on this list, including the
alleged lurkers, is grateful for the information they receive on it, and I
believe that those who provide the knowledge are happy to do so, otherwise
they wouldn't reply, would they? So what if there are people lurking with an
ulterior motive, who cares (apart from you!)? Let 'em lurk!
