It has been a long time since I have looked at any COBOL, but I seem to remember an input/output sort thing. Would that apply to all platforms ("generic" COBOL) or was it just an AS400 thing? -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Metz, Zak Sent: Thursday, May 01, 2003 9:31 AM To: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion Subject: RE: Sorting Always true, Paul. However, in this case I am pretty clear on why we have to do what we do. <snip> The interesting part about how things work around here is that the products are all written in generic COBOL, then code is built around that to make it all work on each platform. Therefore, my requirements are fairly stringent. Something as seemingly simply as allowing the COBOL to read an LF would require a major change at the "base" code level that would need to be pulled into every product. Just the necessary QA to make that happen is significant if PD can be convinced that it's important. <snip>
