In most organizations, the benefit is to lower the costs of record keeping that 
would otherwise be
done manually.  IOW, computers and the resources that support it are usually 
nothing more than a
necessary expense in the minds of most corporate managers.

JMHO on the sorry state of affairs of corporate IT in America.
