You don't need to map a drive - you can use the network name or even just the IP address.

\\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx\sharename\subdirectories\file

or

\\iseriesname\sharename\subdirectories\file

If the user has the same user ID and password on the Windows box and on the iSeries, it just works. Otherwise, you get a login window. IIRC.
