Another JAR Question

Thanks to all who helped me get my big ugly Jar command working.  I needed
to sych up my passwords (duh ...).  Now I have an additional question.  The
format of the Jar command is documented as follows:

jar {ctxu} [vfm0M] [jar-file] [manifest-file] [-C dir] files ...

The part I am questioning is the [-C dir] which is documented as "change to
the specified directory and include the followng file".  Does this mean
that the directory specified in the -C area does NOT apply to all the files
listed???  I'll run out of my 5000 character limit quickly if that's the
case.
