A PTF is a Program Temporary Fix, which fixes a bug in OS/400 or an LPP.
Delayed PTF's require an IPL, immediate PTF's do not.

Well, the PTF's cover letter indicated that the PTF could be applied either as immediate or delayed ... but if you applied it as immediate, you would have to IPL the system in order for it to take affect.

End result: The PTF cannot be applied immediate (which implies that the change takes affect immediately) ... as it requires an IPL to activate (which is essentially what a Delayed PTF is).

Symantecs maybe ... but kind of / sort of false advertising.

I'm not sure exactly which PTF Tom was originally referring to, but when I encountered that verbiage, I was looking to solve a problem that was plaguing me at that moment. The first thing I saw was that it was an Immediate PTF ... so I was confident that I could apply the fix, and continue on my problem solving. Unforunately, this was not the case.
