Kevin,
Take a look at the link above.
You write to a data queue on the Iseries and have a Java program running on
the PC. Works very similar to STRPCCMD but does not have the drawback of
locking the user's session. I could never get runrmtcmd to work with XP so
I went this route. I changed the above code locally to use a keyed dataq
if the code looks like something you could use send me an e-mail
off-list....

It's not the destination that counts in life it's the journey. The journey
with the people we love is all that really matters. Such a simple truth so
easily forgotten.

I'm trying to figure out how to start a task on a PC. Here's the
application scenario we'd like to support:

The user performs selects a menu option on the AS/400 (green screen under
Client Access), and on the resulting green screen panel, presses a function
key. When the function key is pressed, we'd like to cause MS Internet
Explorer to start and navigate to a certain URL.(i.e. like "IEXPLORE.EXE
http://www.midrange.com";). We'd like the URL to be variable depending upon
the user.

I tried using STRPCO, STRPCCMD and it didn't work. Part of the reason was
because I couldn't specify the path "c:\Program Files\Internet Explorer"
... because that's not a valid DOS path? I'm also concerned about relying
on PCO because I'm not sure it's a command with much of a future...if DOS
doesn't have much of a future!

I've read information about RUNRMTCMD but the problem is that I want to
execute the command on the PC that the green screen is running on and I'm
not sure I'll know the IP address of that PC.

Can anyone offer guidance?
