It depends on how well the FTP server was written but you should be able to
issue CD D:\ from your FTP client and the server should move you to the D:
drive. Failing that you could issue remotehelp from your FTP client and see
if the FTP server supports a special command to move between drives. For
example, the VM FTP server supports a special command to move between
mini-disks.
