It depends on the IBM command and/or API, seriously.  We ran into this 
problem and decided to avoid using *FIRST in such applications.

I am looking for information on which order members are accessed.  For
instance, I have a PF AFILE with a members AFILE & MEMBR2 and in my
program, I am accessing *first which member should get picked up?  Is it
member creation time and date that will prioritize or will it have
something to do with the name?  On this file I changed the member name
AFILE to MEMBR3 and renamed MEMBR2 to AFILE.  When I do a dsppfm MEMBR3
gets picked up.  Is this because of time and date will the same thing
happen in CL with *FIRST?

Where on IBM site can I get information on this?  I saw file management
and could not find much.
