What gets me is the 'assumptions' about the future of computing.
Of course, everyone in the under-developed, nee third world nations that will burst upon the computer world will undoubtedly be using or want to get LINUX...
Who said so?, and where is that written?

Third world! Even though we may be perceived to be at the nether extremity of your perception of what may constitute civilization we still have a great appreciation of what is leading-edge technology. It may be a given fact that our diluted currencies do not always put us in a position where we can afford technology at the price where it is charged at in US$, but this does not mean that we necessarily implement freeware/shareware at each and every opportunity. There are local companies that operate on the international market, whose revenues are generated in UD$ and are therefore in the position to afford technology at the releveant prices. Even third world companies appreciate reliability, stability and availability! In order to operate within a globally competitive market, we need to have globally competitive systems. Hence the need for systems such as the one we love.

Why do you think that I have a Model 620-2179 at V5R1M0 (licensed.legal and in use) at home? Just to see how I can get my Linux systems to compete with it? The little Model 150 prcfeat 2270 is next to it, affords me the opportunity to test inter-operability and is a wonderful box.

As the saying goes, it is a case of horses for courses.

Just a thought.
