DB2 functionality on UDB is only slightly different that OS/400's version. UDB has grouping sets, rollup and cube operations. OS/400 has encoded vector indexes. Outside of that, the syntaxes are almost identical and getting closer to each other all the time. I target UDB 7.1 out of ERStudio and run the scripts unchanged against the iSeries without any problems. If you have software subscription, you will note that UDB 7.2 with Fix Pack 5 is shipped with the WDSC-i. That allows you to build a database on a remote PC and develope database applications for the 400, without a connection. I use 8.1 enterprise developers edition to mirror iSeries databases and develop applications for the iSeries. You can even export the data from the 400 and load it to the UDB version on any of it's supported platforms, as long as you have the disk space. =========================================================== R.
