That is sooooo true... there are rules about placement of the card depending
on the AS/400 model.  You can use the System Builder Manual; there is one
for each release of OS/400.  You can find a softcopy on the Redbooks
section.  The V5R1 is SG24-2155-06B.

I don't think installing cards are really this simple.  Ok, maybe if 
you're really lucky.  Often we'll get something like "Oh that card 
requires that you also have this other card."  Or "You need to put that on 
a different bus because that's too much speed on one bus", or some such 
thing.

Turn on autoconfig, power down the system, put it in an available SPD bus
card and, power it back up.  After than you have to config the line and
TCP/IP.
