Yes, you're right - I was only throwing out another option.  Mike said his
co-worker didn't know how to use imbedded sql, and he was trying to give
her an easy way to utilize right/left side keyfields natively, i think, by
creating an sql view for her to use.

opnqryf over a join LF or a view, does this nicely (just as well as
imbedded sql would, without the supporting indexes, logicals, etc)

I didn't consider performance because it wasn't in the original question.

but, again, you're right.  the use of supporting indexes or LF access paths
would help performance, whichever method was used.

Yes, Richard, but if you don't have the right indexes built then you could
be taken a performance hit.  At that point your join logical has no more
function than an SQL view.  It's not that the SQL would be more of a pig
than the OPNQRYF, (the underlying engines are the same).  You could do SQL
over that join logical also.
