I do not know how to communicate this to the AS/400 community in general, yet I know that most in the AS/400 world will be impacted in one way or another by this news.
It is with great sorrow that I have to inform you that Gary Guthrie passed away last night. Please join us in our prayers and sympathies for Gary's family during this time. He will be sorely missed, and his passing saddens us all.
He was a personal friend, a professional collegue, a coworker, and one of the few individuals that I truely respected. I respected him from the adversity that he had to overcome during his short life, the knowledge he was always willing to share, and the insight that he brought to life.
Gary had many publications and awards for his knowledge of the AS/400. He was considered one of the few people that could be considered an "expert" on the iSeries and its many manifestations.
As of this time, there are no further details.
