Simon's is _much_ simpler. The ONLY time I'd do the mrgmsgf thing would be
after I told my users, their bosses, Their bosses and THEIR bosses that it
couldn't be done and was still told to do it. <G>

Slick idea but I think I'll stick with Simon's suggestion.

If you really need to display the name of the surrogate user and not just
"User Logged on" as Simon suggested, perhaps you could code the exit point
to issue a OVRMSGF and drop a customer TCP11AF for each session into
QTEMP.
The custom message would include the name of the user for this connection.

Hello Rob,

You wrote:

Since the message is being sent by the FTP server and it appears to use
the
profile name profiled by the exit point you cannot control the contents of

the message substitution data ... however you can control whether that
data
is displayed.

Change message TCP11AF in the QTCPMSGF file to read:
                 230 User logged on.

That might satisfy your requirement. Note that QTCPMSGF appears in QTCP
and
QSYS and any NLS libraries you may have installed.

Regards,
Simon Coulter.
