And one other thing - if you've got time I would recommend two saves, which
will save you the trouble of re-installing the old drives to make another
save if your first set of tapes fails on you.

What type of tape drive are you using, anyway?

Subject: Restore from SAVSYS (Option 21)

Hi group,

We are going to be replacing all of our disk drives with larger models
in the next few weeks

on a weekend. (IBM is coming out to do the disk drive switches)

We are going to do a Full Backup (Option 21)

before the switch....and obviously will need to do a restore of that
same tape

when all the disk drives get switched.

Is there a redbook or website link that would help me prepare in
investigating what

steps are necessary to do the restore this way.

I don't want to pay IBM $8,000 to basically watch the tape drive light

as it restores unless it's a painful process to do this type of restore.

Thanks,

Jim
