Hi Evan, If you have access to a version of Client Access or iSeries Access software, you can perform the following "miracle" when printing your IBM host data. If you were to configure a Client Access PC5250 print session that was not using Host Print Transform (uncheck the box Transform Print Data to ASCII on AS/400), the OS/400 EBCDIC data would be transferred natively from the IBM host to the PC running Client Access. If you also make sure that you do not select the Use PDT checkbox, Client Access or iSeries Access will convert your EBCDIC data into a Windows format known as GDI on the PC running Client Access. The GDI format is the generic input format required by Windows print drivers. You can then select the multi-up function, from the properties of the Windows print driver servicing your printer, and your IBM host data will be printed in the multi-up format. The IBM host will not know this has happened and no changes are required on your host to accomplish this change in data format. *USER BEWARE* - I tried a test of this functionality with a sample text spool file from one of our development AS/400's. The file was 121 pages in length. When processed by OS/400 Host Print Transform the resulting HP PCL data stream was 787k (very small). When I performed the Client Access "miracle" printing of the same 121 page spool file, the resulting HP PCL data stream was just over 40 Meg (very large). You need to be careful how many pages are in a spool file to be printed if you decide to invoke the Windows print driver multi-up "miracle" printing.
