Do you really want to "forward" thru Exchange?  If all you want to do is use
tools like SNDDST from the AS/400, it doesn't even have to know about
Exchange, it'll just work.

We routinely send email from RPG programs, but send and receive
desktop(Outlook, mostly) mail via Exchange.  We're behind a firewall.

Just based on my experience.
