The PC application primarily stores data in individual files.  But

Client Access is installed on most of the PCs.  But, the files are
stored under the root directory in the IFS, not in QDLS.
The directories are "shared" by Netserver.

Not really interchanging with 400, for this application the 400 is
just acting as a file server.
