I was always told that the sequence for a non-unique key could not be guaranteed for the reason of access path sharing - OS/400 will find an access path which already exists & that matches the specified keys. The one it finds may have an additional key, i.e. you want keylist A B, existing access path has A B C, you'll get the records in A B C order even though you only need them in A B order.
