If it makes you feel any better, Tom, I have exactly the same problem ..... I can see my (work) laptop from my home PC but not vice versa, printing is a nightmare, etc. Puzzlingly, browsing the Windows network shows my home stuff, not the work stuff, but I can't actually map a drive (or printer) to the home stuff, only the work stuff .... I'm not an NT expert but this does all seem very odd. But unlike Tom I *can* browse/ftp/etc. the Internet direct through my ADSL modem/router/firewall (wonderful box, much recommended, Intertex IX66) when my VPN link is active. Perhaps I had better keep quiet about that <grin> - though our networking people are very good indeed! We use a Cisco VPN concentrator with the relevant client software. We have had problems connecting to NT boxes (max frame size on PC Ethernet adapter sometimes needs making smaller) but never with AS/400s. I wouldn't, however, say that VPNs improve one's ability to separate work and home... Sorry David, I know this has not a lot really to do with midrange, but I couldn't resist commenting.
