Probably not as cheap as you want. In general I have found the variety of rails/cages are more expensive than the drives themselves. Drives are running about $25. We have 4 system that use 6607s so I buy some when I see a deal. I like to have the spares around. cjg Carl J. The cabinet will accept up to 8, but I think there may have been different power supply versions, and models were available which could not handle all 8 drives. This was for people who need the extra card capacity or tape drives from the 7117. >I may just go ahead an add 8 drives (6607) in the 7117 and leave the >mirrored load source set on the MFIOP. That would give me about 32 >gig. And still leave room to add another mirrored pair back to the MFIOP to raise to 36GB, which is the max these can do in protected storage. I'm running over 80% DASD on my 12 6606 drive's since upgrading to V5R1, so someday I may swap out my 6606's for 6607's if I get them cheap enough. There was one eBay auction for 10 of them which went for about $115 total, but I was out of town at the time and missed it. Do you have a source for cheap 6607's? I don't want to put much money in a machine which has reached the end of its road...
