then somehow when PM/400 was configured they used that address I guess.
Unless IBM just picked C6 out of thin air which just happen to be your PM
controller.

They did. When I had problems with C6 I picked E4 out of (the air) and
that worked. So they adapted on their end and used E4 instead.

Anyone have a problem using STRRMTSPT (traditional external modem)?

For instance if I do a STRRMTSPT DEVCLS(*VRT) DSPTYPE(5251) DSPMODEL(11)
STNADR(C6) RSRCNAME(CMN02) LCLLOCNAME(C6)
it aborts with
TCP8209-ENDTCPPTP QESDIAL *DIAL for 385867/ROB/ROBS1 completed. 0 of 0
sessions
  ended.
CPC7C0D-Remote support disabled.
CPC2206-Ownership of object QTIPASLIN in QSYS type *LIND changed.
CPD2608-Address duplicate of controller Q1PCTL.
CPF2716-Controller description QTIPASCTL not created.
CPF9899-Error occurred during processing of command.

But if I do a STRRMTSPT DEVCLS(*VRT) DSPTYPE(5251) DSPMODEL(11) STNADR(E4)

RSRCNAME(CMN02) LCLLOCNAME(E4)
it works fine.
