Look, we've all worked places where some pinhead decides the company can
save a gazillion dollars by getting rid of their 400 and running software on
the network bought from a vendor in the back of Computer Shopper.  The
pinhead's boss - the guy who actually makes the decisions on whether to keep
the 400 or dump it - usually don't know jack about IT and may not be all
that bright about anything else but they're experts at one thing - CYA.

IBM should do an ad campaign to play on their worst fears.  Pinhead's boss
is reporting to the board that they've dumped their 400, pink slipped 3/4 of
the IT staff, the new software has run flawlessly for a month on their
little network, and they're saving a gazillion bucks.  Just then, pinhead
calls his boss out of the meeting to tell him the new software has a bug,
the network is down, and the vendor's phone number for support has been
disconnected.  And they could even keep the chic from the current ad
campaign who says at the end of the ads "You are soooo ready for IBM".
