Don,
Oh..
Yes its interesting to try to understand how ibm see linux
and how they implemented it on their systems.
Its free and they are hardware sellers, nothing justify today
imho to continue to sell Aix with his proprietary X windows
manager (motif)
Linux do the same thing, at shell level.
But for server line you don't need a nice X window manager,
shell is enough.(a browser for webmin, maybe)
And the cost dramaticly goes down cause of license fee.
By that, they can sell her hardware easily and make profit.
But for the server line only.
On the software client side ibm does'nt have any offer.
Apple does the thing with mac osx (all Linux (*nix) tools i use on my
mac was compiled
without any problem (./configure, make, make install))
And there is no comparision btw Aqua (apple gui) and gnome, window
maker or kde
Maybe Its not hazardous if the famous hacker Kevin Mittnick bought an
apple 17 inch laptop and not linux.
I try to compile aes source code on as400 and aborted after 10 mn,
problems after problems.
Missing just shell compatibility :)

Stephane,
what was interesting was to listen to the IBM'er at the IBM booth at
the
expo telling me how the zSeries linux implementation was so much
superior
to the iSeries implementation and that how I should be using the
z/linux....:)
