This is sounding better. So it got subsystem descriptions and everything? NEWS FLASH! Should we modify our nightly backups to: CLRLIB RTVSYSINF MONMSG CPF0000 DO CRTLIB RTVSYSINF ENDDO RTVSYSINF LIB(RTVSYSINF) On our 820 the RTVSYSINF took 11 seconds. DSPOBJD OBJ(RTVSYSINF/*ALL) OBJTYPE(*ALL) OUTPUT(*OUTFILE) OUTFILE(QTEMP/DSPOBJD) And a query against that showed disk usage to be a measly 208k On our 840 it took 3 seconds. And the query on that show only a measly 208k also. Rob Berendt -- "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." System and user data Rob I used this option, without any problem. It is described in the manuals. I scrached the recieving AS/400 with the CD's and created a 0205 kind of machine (only OS loaded) waiting for QGPL and QUSRSYS of the old machine. The PRTSYSINF information can be saved with RTVSYSINF into a special (empty library) On the recieving machine UPDSYSINF can be used to recover all ogf this. B.T.W. I talk about V4R3 update to V4R5 up to V5R2 on a 620 option 21 save on 620 and option 21 restore on a 820. System and user data Just to share, in case any of you are thinking of upgrading from one iSeries to another by using the Re: GO RESTORE, 21. System and user data method. Don't. It is now Thursday morning. My boss has been offsite all week. Stuff is still not working. He is planning on doing the D IPL from tape and start from scratch. There are just too many things that you have in QSYS that are not restored. For a sample, try imagining retyping everything from the printouts generated by PRTSYSINF, which, on my system, generated 225 spool files with numerous pages each.
