If I understand correctly IBM has an underlying layer of software that attaches to the silicone and has a defined top layer that is understood by the software people at IBM. All that is required of any Operating System is that it attach to that lower layer. This is what has allowed Version Upgrades with out recompiling, etc. I believe that code is called W Code? I can see that as the languages mature they could all meld and become a new product that generates identical code, but from wildly different development tools. C, C++, Java, COBOL, RPG, CL, and others, could all reside in the same toolbox. --------------------------------------------------------- Booth Martin http://www.MartinVT.com Booth@MartinVT.com --------------------------------------------------------- -------Original Message------- From: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion Date: Tuesday, January 21, 2003 10:56:24 PM To: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion Subject: Re: Is the death of CFINT available for current AS/400 owners? > The box is in its death throes?
