I'm not sure if it's technically accurate, but conceptually, /INCLUDE is exactly like /COPY, except that it is ignored by the precompiler. It's a work-around that allows you to achieve the same functionality that you can get with nested /COPY statements, even though the SQL precompiler can't support them. You can use /INCLUDE in place of /COPY anywhere SQL doesn't need to know about it. In practice, it doesn't seem to have much impact on what you can do with RPG copybooks, although it does mean you some times need to make minor accommodations.
